Context
A Forbes Top 100 Company that I'd never heard of, Ingram-Micro, is distributed all over the world. They wanted to streamline their frontend user experience with a design system. Canada would be the first to receive the upgrade.
Concept
We needed to build not only the component-driven design and modern best-practices, we also needed to build front end examples, like Quoting and Full Checkout workflows. The demos focused on what upgrading to the new design system would buy them. Reusability sure, but sweet animation too.
Design
The team at T3 in Austin began and the team at Ingram finished the updated design rules and colors. The websites that were last updated before smartphones were made fully responsive and, fun to use.
Tech
The design system is built using the basic tech of the web. HTML, CSS and Javascript. React for the Components. The rest of the stack was private company APIs, or dummy APIs to show off something unimplemented.
